Soundscape Composition
Date

This piece was one of my final projects for my MUS 174C class with Professor Tom Erbe. It was one of my first dives into composing for multi-channel audio. I used Max for Live's Surround Panner to help route and spatialize this piece into four channels. This piece mostly revolves around field recordings I took around the UCSD campus when the new Thurgood Marshall college dorms were being built. The percussive sounds of the industrial machines were jarring and disconnected students from what used to be one of the more peaceful and natural parts of campus (however natural a university campus can be), forming the central conflict of this piece.
